Volunteer Highlights
The volunteers who kept a website running and carried Complete Streets to city councils.
From the archive. This page keeps material published on this domain by Smart Coast, a Fairhope, Alabama nonprofit, in the years around 2004–2013. It is preserved as a record; the magazine that publishes smartcoast.org today is independent and is not that nonprofit. Contact details and personal information have been removed, and pictures that no longer exist have been replaced with credited photographs.

Two volunteers stood out in the nonprofit's own account. One, a retired computer specialist who lived in Pensacola, maintained and upgraded the website for more than two years, a reminder that the work was regional rather than confined to one town.
The other chaired the Complete Streets subcommittee. Having moved to Fairhope because it was walkable, she made presentations to civic groups on mobility for everyone, from people on foot and on bicycles to wheelchair users, and the subcommittee's work drew the attention of the Fairhope City Council and the Alabama Department of Transportation.
