The nonprofit once advertised a full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position. The volunteer would handle communications and social media, look after the website and help launch a walking school bus pilot at an elementary school of about a thousand students, including a database of volunteers and a communications plan.
AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program in which members serve full time for a year with a nonprofit or local government agency to fight poverty. Members receive a living stipend and, on completion, an education award or a cash stipend; the amounts are set nationally and change over time.
